The beauty of this flat is further enhanced by the fact that although all of Yorks tourist attractions, shops, restaurants, Rowntree Rark and the river are very close by, it is quiet and peaceful and has its own large sunny patio overlooking beautiful communal gardens. The apartment has a Mediterranean feel to it and the carpet free environment makes it suitable for guests with allergies.There is an intercom.A lot of people have commented that once you enter the complex from the main streets of York city centre via the large electric double gates, peace and tranquillity descends on you. After parking in your dedicated undercover spot in the car-park, it's a few steps to the apartment doors. This is where being on the ground floor really matters - there is no struggling up the stairs with your luggage or in a lift to gain access to the apartment and we are one of only 2 apartments in this block that has its own patio so you can sit outside rather than having to look through the windows.Walk out of the complex gates and you are on the river banks of the Ouse with a view of the famous King Arms pub just a few metres away on the opposite bank. Within a few minutes you are in the City centre shopping and entertainment area with its famous narrow cobbled streets, boutique shops, restaurants to suit all tastes and a vibrant vibe at nightfall. It is so good to have an easy stroll back to the apartment after a full day of shopping, sightseeing or a great night out. We find that people love the fact that you don't have to use a taxi and they have said that their car has remained unused for a whole week while they have discovered all that York has to offer within walking distance. In the streets behind the complex are numerous real ale pubs and quaint traditional houses or if you fancy some exercise try out the gym which is in the same street as the apartment (guest members welcome and includes a small pool).York is a city for cycling and a cycle pathwalk leads along the river bank passing the beautiful Rowntree Park and onto the Millennium bridge, crossing over the river and bringing you back along the opposite bank with the Kings Arms pub situated at the end.From outside the complex you are on to Micklegate Bridge over the River Ouse and then straight into the numerous shopsrestaurants catering for every taste. A superb mix of traditional pubs, contemporary wine bars, cafes and live music venues.If you want a relaxing night in there is a Tesco express, Budgens, Sainsbury local, wine shops, bakery shops, take aways in fact everything you need and can think of is available - again within easy walking distance.We feel that this is the best location to be in in York and we have read that this is one of the most sought after and exclusive streets to own a property in the City.
By Car: follow A1 to A64. Exit A64 at YORK WEST signpost (racecourse) and the A1036. Follow A1036 to city gate (Micklegate Bar). Go straight through at traffic lights through Micklegate Bar and follow the road (which becomes a cobbled road)and at the next set of lights again go straight ahead and within 100 yards at the next lights (just before the Micklegate Bridge) turn right into Skeldergate - the apartment complex is on the right opposite the Queens Hotel and is accessed via large electric gates.
