It was then purchased by the Trapp family and became a town dairy, selling milk, ice cream and Yorkshire curd. The Dairy was then sold and converted into a guest house in 1978. Situated in central York, we are just 300 yards south of the medieval city walls and an easy stroll to York's many attractions and museums. Each individually styled room has a colour television, CD/cassette player, hot drink facilities, hairdryer and alarm clock. Built in 1699, Middlethorpe Hall was once the home of the famous diarist, Lady Mary Wortley Montague. An original William III country house, the hall has been fully restored and is now decorated with antiques and fine pictures, carefully chosen as consistent with the period of the house. The gardens and parkland have also been restored and include ha ha's, a white garden, a walled garden, a small lake and some beautiful specimen trees.
